In November 2020, Coloradans voted to embrace a future where restored populations of gray wolves could again roam the vast public lands of western Colorado. As Colorado completes a plan to reintroduce wolves by 2023, the Rocky Mountain Wolf Project is looking ahead, laying the groundwork for Coloradans to live and work with wolves and other carnivores through programs that minimize conflict and maximize understanding.
To further support these efforts, Rocky Mountain Wolf Project has begun the process to create a new Colorado license plate that, if successful, will provide recurring revenue to further fund these efforts. There will be no cost to the state for the creation of this special plate. Revenue will be generated through Rocky Mountain Wolf Project annual membership fees, which will allow Coloradans to purchase the proposed 'Born To Be Wild' special plate from the DMV and it will support new or existing programs to prevent or mitigate or offset conflicts involving wolves or other wildlife, including those with livestock or domestic animals.
Colorado law requires the Rocky Mountain Wolf Project to prove that at least 3,000 people will buy the plate by signing up to show their support.
